If the above is not what you are after you might be thinking of Caramel apple Betty. There are loads of recipes online but here is just one I found.
INGREDIENTS:
1 jar (12 ounces) apple butter
6 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
6 cups soft bread cubes
1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
PREPARATION:
Combine the apple butter, melted butter, lemon juice, and vanilla. Add bread cubes and chopped nuts. Toss to combine ingredients. Transfer mixture to an 11x7-inch baking pan. Bake in a 350掳 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

APPLES
10 med. Granny Smith apples
10 popsicle sticks
1 (12 oz.) bag Kraft caramels
1 tbsp. water
Wax paper %26amp; butter
Unwrap each individual caramel and drop into a pan. Add water, and place on low heat until Kraft caramels have fully melted. Don't forget to stir occasionally. In the meantime, wash apples, twist out the stems and press each popsicle stick into the core of each apple. Roll apple in the melted caramel until completely covered. Place on wax paper.

Recipe for caramel apples...
Amounts will vary based on serving sizes.
(Makes about 12 servings)
1 - 1lb box of dark brown sugar
1 - cup of room temparature butter
1 - 14oz can of unsweetened milk
2/3 - cup of dark corn syrup
1/3 - cup pure maple syrup
1/2 - teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 - teaspoon flavored dark molasses
1/4 - teaspoon of salt
-Skewers, popsicle sticks, or chopsticks
-Apples of your choice
Put all of the ingredients together and evenly mix and heat until the sugar dissolves and the caramel drips with a creamy buttery appeal. Once completed, dip/roll your own caramel apple varieties!
