Is lard completely interchangable for shortening in recipes?

I don't like cooking with hydrogenated fats. I want to start using lard, does it act just like shortening in recipes? Do you have any tips for using lard?Is lard completely interchangable for shortening in recipes?
yep, my Grandmother always used lard. It makes a GREAT pie crust.

Yep works the same way, makes pie crusts taste a 100 times better I think. But depending on where you live its sometimes hard to come by.
