I was thinking carnitas cause i'm kinda burnt out on barbecue... Help i need suggestions.Does anyone have any good crock pot recipes for a 4 and a half pound pork butt?
Place pork roast in a slow cooker. Mix 1 pkg pork gravy mix, 1 pkg dry lipton onion soup mix, 2-3 cups warm water and fresh garlic/spices to taste and pour over the roast. Cook on low setting all day... it will be so tender it will fall apart and you can ';shred'; it with a fork. Use the drippings for a gravy base the first night and serve with your choice of rice, potatoes, etc.
For 2nd day left overs, toss the pork and some of the drippings with a mole' sauce, chili colorado or tomatillo sauce and eat as carnitas, burritos, etc. Mmmmmm...Does anyone have any good crock pot recipes for a 4 and a half pound pork butt?
Black Forest Pot Roast

4 dried shiitake mushrooms, stems removed, crumbled, and rinsed

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons cornstarch

Trim all visible fat from meat; place in slow cooker. In a small
bowl, combine onion, water, mushrooms, ketchup, wine, mustard,
Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic. Pour mixture over
meat. Cover and cook on low about 8 hours. Remove meat and slice.
Keep meat warm. Turn control to high. Dissolve cornstarch in water,
stir into cooker. Cover and cook on high for 15-20 minutes until
thickened. Serve sauce with meat.
put small amt.of cooking oil in iron or TEFLON skillet and brown on all sides. transfer to slow cooker(already warm) add 5 cups of chicken broth,1 lg. onion chopped ,3 cloves of garlic,1small can of cream of mushroom soup ,salt and pepper to taste , ADD a shake or two of creole seasoning, like tonys .stir good, put lid on pot cook 6to8hrs.SERVE over rice.
Big bottle of hickory smoke commercial barbecue sauce;
put about an 2/3 cup of the sauce on the bottom of the crock pot.
Put pork butt in the crock pot sprinkle with a tablespoon or more of good chili powder - I use Gebhardt's - cover it with a thick coat of BBQ sauce. Cover and cook at least 6 hours. It will pull off the bone or pull apart so you can make pulled pork sandwiches or eat it with tortillas.
Chili Verde , cut the roast into chunks then brown. Add a few cloves of chopped fresh garlic while browning, then when its nice and brown put into crock pot add a can of Las Palmas Green Enchilada sauce the lg 25 ounce can and that's it. When you come home from work it will be done and then serve over rice with warm tortillas...
